We will learn about Sergeant Major Moore, his change management strategies, higher education, and leadership styles that he executed to become successful, well-liked, and revered by his Marines.

Then and now, he utilizes Marine Corps ethics to serve God in headship, Country in Patriotism, and Corps “Once and Always”. Pastor James Moore served with many Marines and Mentors but when it comes to “Jack” he will share a special story about “Unity, Community, Camaraderie and Presidencies.

Sergeant Major Retired Gwendolyn Moore spent her illustrious career as a renowned Female Marine (in a then Marine Corps man’s world) when she enlisted in 1973. She earned several precious awards while in the United States Marine Corps that in words are difficult to describe and achieve. The honor of earning Service Ribbons, Combat Medals, and Meritorious Unit Commendations are sacredly humbling and prove the outstanding work ethics and commitment to others’ excellence before self is innate, a Marine Corps value. Sergeant Major Gwendolyn Moore excelled and after her training at MCRD Parris Island (the Historic Battalion that Made Female Marines for over 100 years) is now deactivated since 2018). She was stationed in California, served at Quantico, VA, and deployed to Japan more than once in her career. She rose to become the US MCRD Parris Island Drill Instructor to remember, making Female Marines just as fierce as Male Marines at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island. Marines are now integrated when training finishing bootcamp at MCRD San Diego.

Mrs. Gwendolyn Moore and her husband bask in serving The Lord, leading their church family, and giving back in the community, Her incredible story of life balance includes sharing her story to empower others as a leader in community and in the Marine Corps as a successful African American Woman. We will glean from her life as the wife of a Sergeant Major as a Sergeant Major then, as a Veteran Retiree, and voice of ministries at Mount Carmel Baptist Church where she is living her purpose as a First Lady to Pastor James Moore, United States Marine Corps Retired.

Giving back in the Community is a chief mission for The Moore’s and serving the veteran populace is key. In 2024, they were recognized for their grand Marine Corps accolades with this honor:
